Rodrigue Bélanger was born in Asbestos and lives in Quebec City. He holds a master's degree in visual arts from Université Laval (1999) and a bachelor's degree in photography, from Concordia University (1994). Inspired by the sculptural potential of traces of human activity on the contemporary landscape, Bélanger likes to rework the sites he photographs, transforming them into geometric shapes with elements of both the real and the constructed. Since 1998, his work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Galerie Le 36 (Quebec), and at VOX, Quartier Éphémère and B-312 in Montreal. His work has also been included in group shows, including Vertiges : Duos photographiques in Cour Mably's Salle Capitulaire in Bordeaux. He was coordinator of Éditions J'ai VU from 2001 to 2008 and is presently a part-time instructor at Université Laval and Université du Québec à Chicoutimi.
