Assemblage is the preferred modus operandi of Dgino Cantin's artistic practice, which goes back and forth between installation, sculpture and drawing. Employing an aesthetic of repair, he creates a personal poetic universe deriving from a fortuitous encounter of materials whose presence is transcended by the creative gesture. Cantin holds a master's degree in visual arts from Université Laval and recently held a six-month artist in residency position at the Centre Européen d'Actions Artistiques Contemporaines in Strasbourg and the Cité international des Arts in Paris. Cantin's work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Quebec and France, including Manif d'art 3 in Quebec City. In 2005, he won the Videre Relève award for his exhibition Pour la suite des choses.
