Mélanie Bédard

Mélanie Bédard's contemplative project marks a return to the tradition of the flâneur, blending video and photography to enquire into the boundary between still and moving images. Traipsing about the countryside, Mélanie Bédard uses video images to give concrete form to places where human beings, through their gaze, interact with the environment. A Quebec City artist who is an active member of La Bande Vidéo, Mélanie Bédard attended the École supérieure des beaux-arts in Marseille and her work has been shown in several artist-run centres in Quebec, including Espace F in Matane, Caravansérail in Rimouski and L'Écart in Rouyn-Noranda. She is completing a master's degree in visual arts at Université Laval.
