Giorgia Volpe was born in São Paulo and has lived in Quebec City since 1998. She holds a bachelor's degree in visual art instruction fom the University of São Paulo and a master's degree in visual art from Université Laval (2001). Her installations, which explore personal and collective memory, join sculpture, video, photography and hand-made products. Giorgia Volpe's work has been shown in numerous exhibitions and public events in Canada, Europe and Latin America. She curated the event Habiter in downtown Quebec City in 2006 and that same year exhibited her work Tricot-bus in the event Les Convertibles held in National Battlefields Park. La chambre des fabulations was shown at La Bande Vidéo (Quebec City, 2008) and Espace F (Matane, 2009) and in 2010 her exhibition Territoire imaginé was presented at Vaste et Vague (Carleton-sur-Mer). Giorgia Volpe's work has been included in several group exhibitions, including Cynismes?, the third edition of Manif d'art (Quebec City, 2005), the 4th International Printmaking Biennial of Douro (2007) and Contemporary Brazilian Printmakers at the Pratt Institute and Goloborotko's Studio in New York (2007).
